Trans-Tasman Tri-Series 2017/18
The Trans-Tasman Tri-Series 2017/18 is a three-nation tournament that will be played from February 3 to 21, 2018 in New Zealand and Australia in Twenty20 cricket. In addition to the two hosts, Australia and New Zealand , the team from England will take part in the tournament, which is part of the 2017/18 international cricket season . In the final, Australia prevailed against New Zealand with 19 runs ( D / L method ) after the game was abandoned in the second innings due to heavy rain.
prehistory
England and Australia previously played an Ashes tour in which Australia won the Test series and England won the ODI series, while New Zealand played a tour against the West Indies . It is the first three-nation tournament to be played in the Twenty20 format between full members of the ICC .
format
In a preliminary round, each team plays each other twice. There are two points for a win, one point for a tie or no result . The first two of the group qualify for the final and play for the tournament victory there.
