Trial by Fire (dt. Trial by fire ) is the fourth solo album by American rapper Yelawolf . It was released on October 27, 2017 on the Shady Records , Interscope and Slumerican labels.
History of origin
Work on Trial by Fire began just months after the release of Yelawolf's previous album Love Story , which was released in April 2015. The rapper worked with his tour DJ, DJ Klever, guitarist Bones Owens and keyboardist Peter Keys from Lynyrd Skynyrd in a studio in Nashville . After the songs Daylight and Shadows were released in 2016 , Yelawolf went on the Trial by Fire Tour through the United States. Meanwhile, one of his best friends, rapper Shawty Fatt, died in a car accident. This led to a nervous breakdown of Yelawolf at a concert, whereupon he canceled the tour and withdrew from the public for the time being. For these reasons, the album was postponed to October 2017.
Music style and production
As on the previous Love Story , the songs on the album combine influences from hip-hop , country and rock .
Yelawolf acted as executive producer on the album and also produced all the songs himself. The guitars are from Bones Owens, while Peter Keys played the keyboard. Trial by Fire was recorded at the House of Blues Studios in Nashville .
Cover design
The album cover shows a burning car. No lettering was used.
Guest Posts
In addition to Yelawolf, other artists are represented on seven tracks on the album. The rock singer Kid Rock has a guest appearance on the song Get Mine , while the country singer Wynonna Judd can be heard on Keeps Me Alive . Punk is a collaboration with rapper Juicy J and drummer Travis Barker , and on Shadows Yelawolf is supported by country singer Joshua Hedley. The song True to Yourself is a collaboration with the singer Bones Owens. Country singer Lee Brice also appears on violin and the interlude Struggle Speaks is a guest contribution by Struggle.
