Tschamsinka ( Russian Чамзинка ; ersjanisch Чаунза / Tschaunsa ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Mordovia ( Russia ) with 9,463 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located about 45 km northeast of the republic capital Saransk in the area of ​​several small tributaries of the right Alatyr tributary Nuja.

Tschamsinka is the administrative center of Tschamsinski Rajon and the seat of the municipality of the same name (gorodskoje posselenije), which includes the two villages Repjewka (about 3 km to the west) and Alsa (a good 4 km to the northwest).

history

The place has been known since 1624. Its name is derived from that of a pre-Christian Mordovian tribe, Tschaunsa or Russified Tschamsa .

In 1928 it became the center of a newly created Rajon. In connection with the construction of a large cement works based on a nearby limestone deposit at nearby Komsomolski in the early 1950s, the importance and population of Tschamsinka grew, so that in 1960 the status of an urban-type settlement was given.

Economy and Infrastructure

In Chamsinka there are several food processing plants, including one of the largest dairies in the republic.

Tschamsinka is located on the 1894 by the Moscow-Kazan Railway opened and today by the Gorkier Railway operated railway Ruzayevka  - Kanash (kilometer 93). The R178 trunk road from Saransk to Ulyanovsk passes south of the settlement .
