Tweet (singer)
Tweet (real name Charlene Keys ; born January 21, 1972 in Rochester , New York ) is an American singer , songwriter and guitarist .
biography
youth
Tweet was born in 1971 as the youngest child to Tom and Shirley Keys in Rochester. Like her older sister Sundra and her three brothers Tom, Cedric and Lonnie, she learned at an early age to perform in front of a larger audience as part of the local church choir. At the same time, Tweet received professional singing and guitar lessons .
After graduating from the local Performing Arts School in Panama City , Florida , Tweet gave birth to their daughter Tashawna in 1990 at the age of 19. The name of the child is composed of the name of the child's father, Shawn, among other things.
Sugah
In the early 1990s, Tweet moved to Virginia to join the five-piece girl group Sugah . The band, which sometimes consisted of Susan Weems and Rolita, was one of a number of performers from DeVante Swings swing mob collective; so it came to first contacts and musical collaboration with their later label colleagues Timbaland , Missy Elliott , Ginuwine , Magoo and Playa. After the swing mob broke up, Sugah did not succeed in gaining a foothold elsewhere and so the quintet decided in 1999 to finally split up the band.
Solo career
In 2000 Missy Elliott asked the singer to sing backing vocals for her third album Miss E. So Addictive (2001). While Tweet managed to draw attention to himself in the following months as a chorus voice on the new releases by Ja Rule , Bubba Sparxxx , Petey Pablo and the duo Timbaland & Magoo , Elliott helped her to a record deal with Elektra Records and her sublabel, The Goldmind Inc Tweet then began work on their debut album with Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Nisan Stewart and co-producer Craig Brockman; at the same time, she appeared for the first time by name as a feature on Elliott's single “Take Away” and Timbaland & Magoo's “All Y'all”.
In 2008 she performed with Joy Denalane , Bilal and Dwele and the MDR symphony orchestra in The Dresden Soul Symphony . The musicians reinterpreted soul hits by combining them with classical music. The premiere was in Dresden on April 26, 2008.
Honey
In 2003, Tweet had a role in the movie Honey , with Jessica Alba . She played herself. The scene she appears in is about Honey (Jessica Alba) directing the Tweet video clip.
