Tyler Anthony Montgomery II (* 22. January 1993 in Jackson (Mississippi) , Mississippi ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He plays for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL).

High school

Montgomery attended St. Mark's School of Texas in Dallas , where he competed in American football , track and field , basketball , baseball, and lacrosse . For the high school football team, he played as a wide receiver , running back and quarterback . In his senior year he scored 823 yards in 93 runs and caught 17 passes . He scored ten touchdowns . In his high school career, he had a total of 118 passes caught and 36 touchdowns.

In athletics, Montgomery was active as a sprinter and long jumper. At the SPC Championships 2011 he won the 100-meter run in 10.81 seconds and the 200-meter run in 22.20 seconds. He was also champion with the 4 × 100m relay with a time of 43.15 seconds. In the long jump he set his personal best in 2011 with 6.55 meters at the Lancaster Meet of Champions.

college

Montgomery played at Stanford University from 2011 to 2014 as a wide receiver under Head Coach David Shaw.

As a freshman in 2011, Montgomery played on offense and special teams . On October 15, he had three kick returns for 147 yards and one touchdown in a game against Washington State . On November 19, he had a 34 yard touchdown in his only possession of the game in a game against California . In the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State , he caught seven passes for 120 yards and one touchdown. Montgomery caught 24 passes for 350 yards and two touchdowns this season, plus he ran for 42 yards and one touchdown.

In the second year, Montgomery continued his role in the offense and special teams. He finished the season with a total of 26 trapped passes for 213 yards and had 11 kick returns for 293 yards averaging 26.6.

As a junior, Montgomery was appointed All-American as a return specialist in 2013 . On October 5, he had four kick returns for 204 yards and one touchdown against Washington. In the next game against Utah , he had eight pass receptions for 131 yards, as well as three kick returns for 160 yards and a touchdown. On November 23, he had 160 receiving yards, four touchdowns and 31 running yards with a rushing touchdown against California. He led the statistic with a kickoff-return average of 31.2 yards nationwide and scored two touchdowns. He also caught 61 passes for 958 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 159 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

As a senior in 2014, he ended his season with 61 passes caught for 604 yards and three touchdowns. There are also 144 yards and a rushing touchdown. He finished his college career with 172 passes caught for 2,125 yards and 15 touchdowns.

NFL

In the 2015 NFL Draft , Montgomery was selected in the third round as the 94th player by the Green Bay Packers . On May 21, 2015, he signed a contract with the Packers. In his debut year, he was placed on the Injured Reserve List on December 21 , after suffering an ankle injury in Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers .

In the first four games of the 2016 season, Montgomery was only on the field with 17 snaps of the offense and did not catch a pass. In the game against the Dallas Cowboys in the 6th week he was set up as starting running back after Eddie Lacy and James Starks were injured. He ended the Packers' 16:30 defeat with ten runs for 98 yards.

In the next game against the Chicago Bears he made 10 pass receptions for 66 yards and 60 yards in the running game with 9 attempts. After continuing to work as a running back, head coach Mike McCarthy declared Montgomery a running back on December 13, 2016. In the following game against the Bears, Montgomery achieved his career best in number of runs (16) and gain of space (162 yards). He therefore also replaced Aaron Rodgers within the team as the leader for yards reached in running plays in the 2016 season .

The 2017 season got off to a good start for Montgomery. In week 4, he broke his ribs in the game against the Chicago Bears, preventing him from being on the squad for the next game of the season. He returned in week 6 but was injured in the wrist in week 10, again against the Bears. He was then placed on the Injured Reserve List for the remainder of the season .
