action

Karl, a boy from Berlin, comes to a vineyard in Langenlois as a holiday child . There are already more holiday children on the estate of Elisabeth Teky, who lives there with her daughter Monika. Elisabeth's husband died a short time ago and the land manager Korbinian Grammelshuber still hopes that Elisabeth will one day find a new husband. The estate is going badly; In addition to inherited debts and a bad harvest in the previous year, an urgently needed renovation of the property has ensured that bailiff Bindinger visits there every day and glues cuckoos. Elisabeth can convince Korbinian to sell the last bottles of the quality wine. Korbinian now wants to write to potential wine merchants and combine the sale with the search for a suitable man for Elisabeth. He wrote to Richard Köster from the Wiener Weinhandlung Köster and, as if by chance, encloses a photo of Elisabeth with the letter. However, Richard's dominant aunt Stefanie, who runs the wine shop, opens the letter. To get Richard off his secret girlfriend, the pop singer Yvonne Sommer, Stefanie sends Richard to Langenlois to taste and buy wine. Richard, however, wants to accompany Yvonne on an engagement in Salzburg and passes the job on to his best friend Jörg Strasser. As a stressed teacher, he is happy to be able to go on vacation in Langenlois. The passionate beer drinker knows nothing about wine.

In Langenlois, Jörg first meets Korbinian and makes it clear to him that he does not want to see any children during his stay. The six children present are now hidden from Jörg in the house. Jörg, in turn, takes a liking to Elisabeth and dutifully tastes the wines that are served in front of him. When one day the six children meet the sleeping Bindinger with their little pony wagon, they steal his briefcase with the sticky cuckoo chucks. He in turn takes the pony wagon after waking up and the children don't dare to go back to Elisabeth without a wagon. She is beside herself with worry and also blames Jörg for the disappearance. Together they look for the children and Jörg finally finds them. Jörg and Elisabeth make up. However, Bindinger wants his money as soon as possible and Jörg would have to sign a sales contract. He tries to contact Richard in Salzburg, but his friend and Yvonne have been terminated. Jörg then telegraphs to Vienna and Stefanie, who has been put on alert, is now driving to Langenlois. Richard and Yvonne have now also arrived here. Both have secretly married and now want to set up a fake wine auction, at which Stefanie is supposed to buy all of Elisabeth's stocks.

Stefanie appears and everything goes well at first. Through an incident, Stefanie learns that the wine auction is wrong and withdraws from the business. Everything seems to have been in vain. However, the children prevent Stefanie from leaving, and Elisabeth informs her that Richard and Yvonne have married. Stefanie also learns from the children that the winery is about to end. Stefanie, who really wanted to buy the wines, settled the debts of the estate and secured a sole right to buy from Elisabeth for all subsequent vintages. It comes to a happy ending: Elisabeth and Jörg find each other, Richard and Yvonne receive the blessing from Stefanie and she in turn receives a kiss from the enthusiastic Korbinian.

production

Template, locations, music

background

Gertraud Steiner called the film in comparison to other “summer fun games a really lovable film.” The homeland film cliché corresponds to the fact that Elisabeth knows nothing about business, but is a good mother. "The dominant figure of the wine merchant Köster is not recognized as a 'real' woman because of her business acumen and is portrayed as a half-male person with a strict hairstyle and a cigar in her mouth."

reception

publication

The world premiere took place on November 28, 1957 in Vienna and Langenlois. The German premiere of the film was on March 28, 1958 in Aschaffenburg Bavaria .

criticism

For the film service , Die Winzerin von Langenlois was an "undemanding game of confusion with beautiful landscape shots."

Cinema wrote: “Beautiful landscape, young love, bland singsong: The stale blend of comedy and Heimatfilm no longer tastes good. Conclusion: Oh, no: old wine in old bottles ”.
