Lower Castle (Welden)

The former “Lower Castle” and current “Bäckerwirt” in Welden

The former Lower Castle next to the parish church in Welden in the Swabian district of Augsburg is now an inn ("Bäckerwirt"). The name Lower Castle refers to the now defunct Burgstall Welden of the "Lords of Welden", a family of servants of the Margraves of Burgau . It is a listed building (number D-7-72-216-7).

The former Lower Castle was later the office building and is now the Bäckerwirt inn. The two-storey gable roof building with tail gable and gable cornices was built around 1730. In 1765 the renovation was carried out by Joseph Dossenberger the Elder . J.
