Untermainbach is a district of the municipality Rednitzhembach in the Central Franconian district of Roth , Bavaria .
geography
The village is about one kilometer west of the historic center of Rednitzhembach at an altitude of 330 m above sea level. NHN in the valley of the Mainbach . This flows east of the village from the left into the Rednitz .
history
Untermainbach is the oldest district of Rednitzhembach. Two settlements from the Urnfield Period are protected as ground monuments. The Natural History Society of Nuremberg carried out excavations there in the 1930s and 1970s and is now showing a model of the settlement in its collection. At the turn of the ages , the entire Regnitz river system was considered to be the area where the Narisker spread . When the Narisker disappeared from the history books, the settlement also ended for the time being. The Limes was only a strict day's march away and times were getting too restless. It was not until Carolingian times , around the year 725, that the Franks coming from the west repopulate the area. The place belonged to the northernmost Sualafeldgau , while at Schwabach the border to Rangau already ran.
The Bavarian cadastre shows Untermainbach in the 1810s as a village with 13 hearths.
Around 1848/49 the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn reached the place and divided it into a western and an eastern half with a mighty two-arched railway bridge, which was built from sandstone blocks over the valley of the Mainbach. This has been preserved as a monument and is still used today for rail traffic.
A mill in Untermainbach was later mentioned, which is said to have been in operation until 1935.
With the municipal edict in the 19th century, Untermainbach became a part of the Walpersdorf municipality . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , this was incorporated into Rednitzhembach on January 1, 1972.

- A municipal road connects the district with the state road St 2224 running to the west and east with the state road St 2409 as well as with the neighboring villages.
- Local public transport (ÖPNV) serves the place with the dial-a-bus route 675. At the Rednitzhembach stop there is an option to board the S-Bahn line 2 .

- The closest port is Lände Roth , nine kilometers south-east.
