action
The Berlin archaeologist Bohmann learns from the Englishman Gray about the alleged rediscovery of the sunken Atlantis . Full of curiosity and full of hope for an adventure, he wants to set off immediately, but is warned urgently by Gray. Bohmann sets out on the trip anyway, his destination is the Greek island of Othronus , which the Turks use as a military base. Already in the border region between Greece and Turkey he got caught between the fronts of the two warring secret services and warring parties and was arrested as a spy . First the young Greek Elektra saves him from worse, before the Turk Abu Markub saves his life by forcing him into an oriental costume and thus saving him from certain death.
His expedition continues on horseback, accompanied by the young Elektra, who is arrested by the Turks a short time later. Bohmann betrays them and is able to escape for the time being, but is arrested again shortly afterwards. When he is about to be executed, Greek partisans rescue him and he finally arrives on the island of Othronus. But he does not find the alleged Atlantis; it all turns out to be a deception by Gray who even saved his life in various guises and now wants to win him over as a partner in the search for the lost Atlantis. But Bohmann does not play along, continues to search for Atlantis alone and leaves Gray behind.
