Uurainen [ uːrɑi̯nen ] ( Swedish : Urais) is a commune in the countryside of Central Finland in the west of Finland .

Localities

The community includes the places Haukimäenkylä, Höytiä, Jokihaara, Kangashäkki, Kirkonkylä, Kotaperä, Kummunkylä, Kuukkajärvi, Kyynämöinen, Nyrölä, Oikarisperä, Pirttiperä and Uurainen.

politics

As in most rural areas in Finland, the Center Party is the strongest political force in Uurainen . In the 2008 local elections she received over a third of the vote. In the municipal council, the highest decision-making body in local affairs, it has nine out of 21 members. The Social Democrats won four seats , as did the right-wing populist True Finns , who are disproportionately strong in Uurainen. The Christian Democrats won three seats, and the conservative National Assembly Party won one .
