Uwe Jähnig (born August 26, 1969 in Dresden ) is a former German soccer player and soccer coach .

Athletic career

BSG, SG and club stations

Uwe Jähnig played in the youth of the former GDR at Empor Tabak Dresden and was delegated to SG Dynamo Dresden in 1982. In 1984 he was with Dynamo GDR student champion with a 1-0 final win against BFC Dynamo .

At the age of 17 he had his first appearance in the GDR league when he was substituted on February 28, 1987 against the progress Bischofswerda in the 75th minute for striker Ulf Kirsten . In his 4th first division game, exactly one month after his debut, he scored his first two league goals in the 5-0 away win of Dynamos against Energie Cottbus on matchday 17 of the 1986/87 season .

In spring 1991 he was loaned to 1. FC Magdeburg for six months . After Magdeburg's failed qualification for all-German professional football , he moved back to Dresden. He played for Dynamo in the 1st Bundesliga for the next four years before moving to Hamburger SV in 1995. He only played 15 times for the Hanseatic League as he repeatedly had to fight injuries. In 1997 Uwe Jähnig had to end his career due to a back injury.

Selection bets

As a youth player, Jähnig was part of the squad of the most varied of GDR junior teams and went through all age groups from U-16 to U-21. With the youth selection of the DFV , he appeared twice at the U-16 European Championships . In both final tournaments - 1985 in Hungary and 1986 in Greece - he finished fourth with the East German offspring.

With the U-19 team , the Dresden 1986 junior European champion. In 1989 he again took part in the U-20 World Cup , held that year in Saudi Arabia. The GDR had qualified with bronze at the Junior European Championships in the ČSSR the previous summer, in which Jähnig was the top performer. In fuwo it was said about his achievements: “Our outstanding man, our trump card. When he took part in the finals for the fifth time (youth and juniors), he paired his speed and agility with the experience he had acquired, and he wore down his opponents with long sprints. Involved in almost all dangerous goal actions, revealed a lot of overview in the end. Should now be carefully introduced to higher tasks. ” With three junior medals, Jähnig was one of the most successful young East German footballers of the 1980s.

In 1989 Jähnig was appointed to the GDR Olympic team, with which he played several test matches. Even before the qualifying games for the 1992 Olympics began, the team was withdrawn as part of the reunification . Uwe Jähnig played in Germany's U-21 national team in 1992 .

Coaching career

Uwe Jähnig had his first coaching position from 2008 to autumn 2009 at SV Bannewitz in the Landesliga Sachsen , in which the former professional took over the team in the first half of the season in 12th place and was still in third place.

Most recently, Uwe Jähnig coached the third team from Dynamo Dresden in the Landesliga Sachsen. On March 29, 2010 he was released due to the sporting failure in the second half of the season. Since 2012 he has been working as a player scout / consultant for Eurosportsmanagement GmbH.
