action

The widowed head of the women's department in the employment office, Government Councilor Dr. Hans Neumeister is overwhelmed with raising his four children and running the household. Therefore, he is dependent on domestic help. His only bad luck is that it doesn't last long with him because they quickly feel annoyed by the children's temperament and their imagination. This is more than uncomfortable for a man in Neumeister's position. When another woman quit, he decides to give it a try with the help of a job advertisement. But the children also think about how to help their father. Martin has the idea: "Father needs a woman!" Together they formulate a newspaper advertisement in which they not only describe their father, but also themselves in the most beautiful colors.

After failures that the children have to cope with, there is still success with Susanne Meissner, a young, elegant photo model. Susanne has been tired of her job for some time and is worried about her future. Hans Neumeister, however, thinks the lady is an applicant for his job advertisement. So it happens that the two talk past each other and everyone has the feeling: This is probably nothing for the intended purpose! Neumeister's secretary, Mrs. Nickel, also wants to help her boss and plays fate. She makes sure that the head of the children's radio, Lotti Hellwig, who is only known to most by the name "Kuckuck" and would like to work with children during the holidays, auditions to him. However, this is initially mistaken for a candidate for marriage by the host, who has since learned about his children's plan. It quickly turns out that Lotti is very good with children and is generally very nice. However, the fact that she falls in love with Neumeister complicates the matter.

Neumeister has caught fire and meets with Susanne, to whom he reveals, albeit not immediately, that he has four children. However, Ulla Neumeister noticed by chance that the great Mercedes in which Susanne can be seen in the picture that she sent to her father does not belong to her, as well as the furs and the villa. She now believes that Susanne is a con man and a marriage fraud. All of a sudden, Dr. Neumeister between the woman he loves and his children. However, Ulla thinks about it, looks for Susanne and realizes that she is the right person not only for her father, but also for her and her brothers. And so it happens that Hans Neumeister, true to his children's opinion that father needs a wife, leads his Susanne to the altar.
