history

Waldeck-Pyrmont constitution-making state representation

As part of the November Revolution , Prince Friedrich was deposed and Waldeck-Pyrmont was declared a Free State . This gave rise to the need to create a new state election law. On February 14, 1919, the new election regulations were published. The Landtag, now known as the Waldeck-Pyrmont Constituent Representation, should be elected in two constituencies (Waldeck and Pyrmont). It consisted of 21 members (17 from Waldeck, 4 from Pyrmont). It was elected by proportional representation in direct and secret ballot. The women's suffrage was first introduced in Waldeck. The election regulations were based on the Prussian state election law and referred to it. The old state parliament was dissolved on April 2, 1919 after the election of the Waldeck-Pyrmont constitution-making state representative on March 9, 1919. On April 8, 1919, the Waldeck-Pyrmont constitutional representation met for the first time.

However, no constitution was passed. Instead, a connection to Prussia was discussed. On November 30, 1921, after a referendum in Pyrmont 1921, Pyrmont was ceded to Prussia and there became part of the Hameln-Pyrmont district . In May 1922, Wilhelm Eikermann was elected to the provincial parliament of the province of Hanover in a by-election on a joint list of the DVP and DDP in the Pyrmont district.

Waldeck remained independent as a Free State until April 1, 1929. In 1929, Waldeck was also incorporated into Prussia as part of the Hesse-Nassau province . The electoral term of the Landtag elected in 1925 was extended to 1929 in view of the imminent end of the Free State. On March 27, 1929, the state representation dissolved. The successor to the state parliament was the Kurhessischer Kommunallandtag or the Provincial Parliament of Hessen-Nassau . On June 9, 1929, an additional election to the Prussian state parliament took place in Waldeck, but no Waldeck candidate was elected.
