The Vilâyet Basra or the Beglerbeglik Basra ( Turkish Basra Beylerbeyliği ) was an administrative province ( Vilâyet ) of the Ottoman Empire with the capital Basra .

The Ottomans conquered Basra in 1534. The Vilâyet was formed in 1538. Through rebellions and campaigns, Basra was sometimes tied to Baghdad or organized as a vilayet. In the 17th century it was de facto independent and ruled by a local dynasty. The empire consolidated its power again in the middle of the century. In 1696 Basra fell into Iranian hands.

In 1914 it was occupied by the British.
