The Vilâyet Shkodra ( Turkish İşkodra Vilayeti , Albanian  Vilajeti i Shkodrës ) was a province ( Vilâyet ) of the Ottoman Empire and existed between 1867 and 1913 when it became part of the newly independent Albanian state, the Principality of Albania . The Vilâyet had an area of ​​13,800 square kilometers, 349,455 inhabitants (1911) and Shkodra as the capital. The population consisted mainly of Albanians who belonged to Islam , Orthodox Christianity or Catholicism .
