Volkmannsreuth (East Franconian: dom da Reud , that means up on the Reuth) is a village in Franconian Switzerland and part of the Markt Heiligenstadt in Upper Franconia in the district of Bamberg .

history

The first documentary mention comes from the year 1212, when Otto von Waischenfeld transferred property in Vilbrunnen ( Veilbronn ), Volkmaresrute and Pollence (= Hohenpölz or Tiefenpölz ) to the Bishop of Würzburg .

Surname

The place name Volkmannsreuth originated from Reuth ( clearing of a Volkmars ).

Topographical description from 1752

In Biedermann's topographical description from 1752, Volkmannsreuth is described as follows:

“Volckmannsreuth, a small village with 11 households on the heights, 7 men from the bishopric to the caste office in Ebermannstadt, 3 men to the Baron v. Stauffenberg to the castle Burggrub and knight place Gebürg, but one man can be loaned to the Catholic priest of Gaißfeld. The village and community rulership, as well as the high jurisdiction, has the office of Ebermannstadt, the high and low hunting of Mr. Baron u Seckendorff from the Unterleinleiter Castle, but the toes are held by the Venerable Cathedral Chapter and the pastor of the Evangelical Church of Heiligenstadt. Before that the whole place belonged to Mr. Streitberg to the castles Veilbrunn and Burggrub. The residents are parish to the Evangelical Church in Heiligenstadt. "
