Geisdorf
Geisdorf (Franconian: Gaasdorf) is a hamlet in Franconian Switzerland (part of the Markt Heiligenstadt i.OFr. ) In the district of Bamberg .
The place has 30 inhabitants in 8 properties. Geisdorf does not have its own district and has always been part of the neighboring village of Herzogenreuth .
location
Geisdorf is located on a terrace of the Franconian Jura at an altitude of about 500 m and is connected by paths with Oberleinleiter , Herzogenreuth and Laibarös .
history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1307, when Bishop Wulfing of Bamberg founded a vicarie for the sexton Konrad of the Bamberg parish of St. Gangolf . This consisted of the tithe of four estates in "Gauchsdorf", as the place was called at that time.
Surname
In 1692, the Kastner of the Giech care used the traditional name "Gauchsdorf". In contrast, in the years 1640/41 one wrote in an interest register of the church of Herzogenreuth already "Gayßdorff". In the vernacular the name is "Gaasdorf".
middle Ages
From the fact that Geisdorf was always part of the Herzogenreuth community, one can assume that the place was founded from there as a resettlement, probably around the year 1200.

In Biedermann's topographical description from 1752, Geisdorf is described as follows:
- "Gaißdorf, a place with two households under the Scheßlitz office between Tiefenbelz and Leiberöß, belong to the office and parishes of the Catholic Church in Tiefenbelz."

Kastner of Care Giech (1728)
The Kastner der Pflege Giech described Geisdorf in his report in 1728 as follows:
- "Geisdorf is ¼ hour from Herzogenreuth, is, with all jurisdiction, like Herzogenreuth, devoted to the bishopric and parish on Tiefenpölz. The community is incorporated into the Herzogenreuther community. Imagined village is desolate above man's memory, but 12 years ago .. rebuilt and by four. Subjects inhabited, The tithe of this village and land markings, which in common years bear 30 to 40 grains, belongs to St. Gangolf Abbey in Bamberg. The community has nothing, neither in the village nor in the field. "
