history

School mill in Veilbronn

Veilbronn was never a real farming village. The corridor belonging to Siegritz has been cultivated by farmers in the surrounding Jura villages since the manor fell into disrepair. The inhabitants of the village oriented themselves towards tourism early on . Today Veilbronn is the tourist center of the municipality with two hotels, the Naturfreundehaus and holiday apartments.

The Bamberg private scholar Joseph Heller describes Veilbronn in his description of the Muggendorfer Mountains in 1829 as follows:

“Veilbrunn, Bambergisch, Protestant, is very romantically located on the Leinleiter between rocks in the Ebermannstadt district court and is partly part of the Seckendorff patrimonial Unterleinleiter.
The place has 12 houses 70 inhabitants, a tavern, a cotton mill, which is located in the castle and is driven by a machine, and a grinding mill. The place belonged to 1. 5. 30 the v. Künsfeld, the castle was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525 , but was restored soon afterwards. Afterwards the possessions came to the noble v. Streitberg , which went out with Hans Wilhelm in 1690. "
