Vorarlberg dictionary

The Vorarlberg dictionary is a large-scale dictionary that was published by the Austrian Academy of Sciences as the Vorarlberg dictionary including the Principality of Liechtenstein under the direction of the Graz University Professor Leo Jutz from 1955 to 1965. Volume 2 was published from the estate of Leo Jutz, who died in 1962, and was edited by Eugen Gabriel and Eberhard Kranzmayer .

Vorarlberg is the only Austrian federal state in which no Bavarian dialect is spoken. The dialects of Vorarlberg, as Middle Alemannic , East High Alemannic and Highest Alemannic ( Walser German ) dialects, are closely related to Liechtenstein and Swiss German . See main article Vorarlbergerisch .

A Vorarlberg language atlas including the Principality of Liechtenstein, West Tyrol and Allgäu (VALTS) , which was published between 1985 and 2006, was developed by the State of Vorarlberg under the direction of Eugen Gabriel .
