The 2000/01 season was the 19th edition of the highest English women's ice hockey league , the Women's Premier Ice Hockey League . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK . The winner received the Chairman's Cup . After a six-year winning streak for the Sunderland Scorpions, the women of the Lightning brought the title to Guildford.

Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The four best reached the semifinals. A relegation did not take place. There was no relegation. The Division I play-off winner rose directly to the Premier Division.

Division 1
The Women's National Ice Hockey League is the second tier of the English women 's ice hockey league after the Premier League. Division 1 is the highest class in it. It is divided into two regional groups. A double round was played in the north group and a single round in the south group.
