Wadim Rimowitsch Sharifjanow ( Russian Вадим Римович Шарифьянов ; born December 23, 1975 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played for the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League during his active career .
Career
Sharifyanov played until the summer of 1994 for the club in his hometown, Salavat Yulayev Ufa . There he had made his debut in the professional team during the 1992/93 season as a 17-year-old, which at that time belonged to the International Hockey League . In the fall of 1994, the striker finally moved within the league and joined the capital club HK CSKA Moscow , which had been the most successful ice hockey club in the USSR . In the previous summer, however, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1994 in the first round in 25th place by the New Jersey Devils , which Sharifyanov did not even stay a whole season at CSKA.
Towards the end of the 1994/95 game year , the Devils had brought him to North America and used him in their farm team , the Albany River Rats , in the American Hockey League . With the River Rats, the Russian won the prestigious Calder Cup that same year . However, before he made the leap into the National Hockey League permanently , the right winger ran another three seasons for Albany. Only for the 1998/99 season Sharifyanow received a permanent place in the squad of the New Jersey Devils, after he had come in two games to his NHL debut in the course of the 1996/97 season . In his league rookie season , he had 27 points in 53 games, earning him the NHL rookie of the month in December 1998 . Sharifyanov's time with the Devils ended in January 2000 - after almost five years in the franchise . He was given with and for some voting rights in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft to league rivals Vancouver Canucks . For the Canucks, however, the attacker was only used 17 times. Before the start of the 2000/01 season , they pushed him into their farm team, the Kansas City Blades , from the International Hockey League . This was also the last season the striker spent in North America.
In the summer of 2001, Sharifyanov returned to his native country after the Canucks released him from his current contract. Between 2001 and 2004 he played with HK Lada Tolyatti , Severstal Tscherepowez , HK Spartak Moscow , Krylya Sovetov Moscow , Metallurg Novokuznetsk and SKA Saint Petersburg for six different teams in the Super League within three years. For the 2004/05 season, the Russian dared to leap abroad again when he ran up for IFK Arboga IK in the second-rate, Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan and the Gap Hockey Club in the French Ligue Magnus . For the 2005/06 season he returned to Russia again. After spending two years with Sputnik Nizhny Tagil , he went on the ice between 2007 and 2009 for Toros Neftekamsk in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . Then he ended his career.
International
Sharifyanov played exclusively in the junior area for the selection of his country of birth. It was used for the first time at the European Junior Championships in 1992 , when Russia won the bronze medal. His eight tournament goals in six games also gave him the election to the All-Star Team of the tournament. The following year he was represented again at the European Junior Championships . That year Russia won the silver medal. In addition, Sharifyanov came to the Junior World Championships in 1994 and 1995 to use. Here, too, he won a bronze and a silver medal. At the 1995 tournament, he contributed ten points in seven games, compared to four in as many games in the previous year.
