Wadym Slivchenko ( Ukrainian Вадим Слівченко ; born March 28, 1970 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian ice hockey player who played on the position of the right winger . In the German Ice Hockey League he played for the Schwenninger Wild Wings , Frankfurt Lions , Wölfe Freiburg and the Krefeld Penguins .

Career

The Ukrainian Slivchenko began his professional career in his home country at HK Sokol Kiev , for which he completed two matches in the International Hockey League in the 1992/93 season and scored four points before he went to North America during the same season for the Chatham Wheels played in the Colonial Hockey League and the Greensboro Monarchs in the East Coast Hockey League . From 1993 to 1995 he was on the ice for the Wheeling Thunderbirds . During this time, Slivchenko was named ECHL Most Valuable Player in the 1994/95 season as the best regular season player . This was followed by an engagement with the Houston Eros in the International Hockey League , before the attacker decided to return to Europe and received a contract with the Vienna EV for the 1996/97 season , for which he spent the following three years in the Austrian ice hockey League was active and during this time the team also took part in the European Hockey League and the Alpine League .

In the 1999/2000 season, Slivchenko went on the ice for Färjestad BK in the Elitserien , Hammarby IF in the Allsvenskan and the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL . His short trip to Wheeling ended after nine games before the Ukrainian moved to the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the German Ice Hockey League for the following season . After a season with the Schwenningers, in which Slivchenko was the team's best scorer with 53 points from 51 games, he accepted an offer from league rivals Frankfurt Lions . He left this after another good season to return to Villingen-Schwenningen to the Wild Wings. After a sportily unsuccessful season in which the team finished last in the table, another engagement followed within the DEL and the attacker decided to switch to the Wölfe Freiburg . Even with these he did not manage to stay in the league and after one season changed employers again by signing a contract with the Krefeld Pinguine . After one season he accepted an offer from ETC Crimmitschau , for which he went on the ice from 2005 to 2007. In the 2007/08 season , Slivchenko played again for the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL, before ending his career following this season.

In addition to his activity as an ice hockey player, Slivchenko was also active as an inline hockey player in the professional league Roller Hockey International . In this he went on the ice in 1994 for the Portland Rage and from 1995 to 1997 for the Sacramento River Rats .

International

Wadym Slivchenko represented the Ukrainian national ice hockey team at the 1999 and 2001 World Championships and at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
