Waking Up in Reno is an American comedy film from Jordan Brady from the year 2002 .

Roy Kirkendall is married to Candy, Lonnie Earl Dodd is married to Darlene. The befriended couples want to spend their vacation together. You're going to a show in Reno . Lonnie Earl Dodd competes in a steak-eating contest while out and about in Texas.
Candy wants to get pregnant. After ovulating, she loves her husband in the car in a parking lot. Curious spectators gather around the car until the impatiently waiting Lonnie Earl Dodd interrupts the act of love. In Reno, Candy discovers that she has become pregnant. Meanwhile, Dodd tries to pick up a woman in a bar, but he gets the rebuff from him.
Reviews
Peter Travers wrote in Rolling Stone magazine on January 31, 2002 that the film elicited loud laughs for which viewers could hate themselves. He praised the game by Billy Bob Thornton.
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times that the dialogues were similar to those in a sitcom. The script ensured the victory of traditional values such as love and family at the end of the film. Some gags are cheap, for example when Lonnie Earl tips four hotel employees a total of one dollar.

The comedy was filmed for Miramax Films in Los Angeles , Fullerton , Reno , Texas and Arizona in early 2000 . A film adaptation with Powers Boothe , Laura Dern , Barbara Hershey and Mary Steenburgen was planned as early as 1997 .
