Waldbach is a former municipality with 698 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district of Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ). As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, it has been merged with the Mönichwald municipality since 2015 , the new municipality is called Waldbach-Mönichwald . The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG. A challenge to the merger, which the community of Waldbach had brought to the Constitutional Court , was unsuccessful.
geography
The region in which Waldbach is located is often referred to as Joglland , which also includes neighboring villages. Waldbach also has a share in the Hochwechsel, which forms a natural border between Lower Austria and Styria.

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from August 1, 1984.
Blazon : "A silver wave bar in red, accompanied by three fertilized silver oak leaves at the top and bottom."
economy
The main attractions of Joglland are the Nordic walking offers, as well as nature trails, swimming pools and ski areas. The core works , which are among the largest wood factories in Northeast Styria, are based in Waldbach . Next are Wiedner fountains known, the self-built water-powered railways, gondolas and so set in motion.
There is also a weapons exhibition to be admired, which reminds of the battles of the last days of the Second World War , which were fought on the Hochwechsel. In the midst of the trick fountains there is also a memorial for the Wehrmacht general and Hitler's henchman Eduard Dietl .
