The Watinski Jogan ( Russian Ватинский Ёган ) is a 593 km long right tributary of the Ob in the West Siberian lowlands ( Russia ).
The Watinski Jogan rises about 65 km as the crow flies north of Nizhnevartovsk in the Aganski Uwal ridge named after the Agan flowing north , a southern foothill of the Siberian ridge . It flows first in a southerly, then in a southwestern direction until it turns in the middle course, northeast of the city of Megion , in a predominantly west-northwest direction, roughly parallel to the Ob. It meanders very strongly, which results in the length of the river of almost 600 km, although the source and mouth are only 100 km apart as the crow flies . It finally flows into the Ob about 15 km southwest (upstream) of the city of Langepas . The protoka Langepas arm of the river branches off to the right a good 10 km above the estuary , which flows directly past the city named after it and flows into the Ob about 30 km downstream of the Watinski-Jogan main arm. The estuary arms are connected by further arms, the direction of which can vary depending on the water level, as can that of the last kilometers of Watinski Jogan itself.
The catchment area of the river covers 3190 km². The longest tributary is the 87 km long Kyrtyp-Jach, which flows into the lower reaches from the right.
The Watinski Jogan flows through its entire length on the territory of the Khanty and Mansi Autonomous Okrug / Ugra - predominantly swampy area that was developed as part of the exploration and exploitation of the West Siberian oil and natural gas deposits , including in the area of Lake Samotlor near Nizhnevartovsk , a few kilometers southeast of the middle reaches. The railway line and the road from Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk, which cross the river above its mouth, run between Ob and Watinski Jogan . The road and an oil pipeline from Raduzhny to Nizhnevartovsk run past a little east of the upper reaches . The only village in the immediate vicinity of the river is the urban-type Vysoki settlement in the Megion district.
