Wayne Hynes (born May 26, 1969 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former Canadian - German ice hockey player . As a player, Hynes was active in the DEL for the Schwenninger Wild Wings , the Munich Barons , the Adler Mannheim as well as the Hamburg Freezers and the Hanover Scorpions . He has been a trainer since the end of his career .
Player career
The 1.82 m tall center began his career with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , after two years on the University of Calgary team in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport game , the left-shooter finally moved to Grefrather EC in the 2nd Bundesliga .
After Grefrather's relegation to the upper league and another year at TuS Geretsried , Hynes signed a contract with Schwenninger Wild Wings, for which he played in the newly founded DEL for five years. After the Canadian spent the play-offs of the 1998/99 season at the Swiss second division club SC Langnau , he moved back to the DEL to the Munich Barons for the 1999/00 season , with whom he won the German championship in the same year . After three years with Adler Mannheim, which also included winning the 2001 championship again , Hynes switched to league rivals Hamburg Freezers, his last DEL station was the Hanover Scorpions in the 2004/05 season .
In the summer of 2005 , the striker went back to the Schwenninger ERC, which has since been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, and Hynes ended his playing career in 2007 with second division runner-up Kassel Huskies.
International
The native Canadian competed in the 2001 and 2002 World Championships for the German national ice hockey team , and was on the ice for the German team at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City .
Coaching career
His coaching career began in the 2007/08 season with the Eisbären Regensburg . On January 8th, 2008 the Eisbären Regensburg announced that Wayne Hynes was released from the fulfillment of his contractual obligations as a trainer with immediate effect. From November 2008 he trained the Eispiraten Crimmitschau before he did not renew his contract after the 2009/10 season for personal reasons.
From December 2014 Hynes was assistant coach of the first team of the Schwenninger Wild Wings. Wayne Hynes was previously employed as a full-time junior coach at Schwenninger ERC and coached the local Bundesliga school team.
