The pond top is a 758.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Rhön . It is located in the Wasserkuppenrhön near Abtsroda and Dietges in the Hessian district of Fulda .

The Weiherkuppe rises in the Hessische Rhön Nature Park and in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve between the mountains Wasserkuppe in the southeast and Milseburg in the north-northwest. Its summit is 0.9 km northwest of Abtsroda , 0.7 km north-northeast of Sieblos , 1.4 km east of Mittelberg and 1.2 km southeast of Grabenhof , four districts of Poppenhausen , and 2.3 km southwest of Dietges , one District of Hilders .
Rivers that spring on the pond summit are the simplicity of water (east), the catchment area of Ulster heard and the pond Berger Bach (south), the to that of Lütter counts.
Natural allocation
The Weiherkuppe belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35), in the main unit Hohe Rhön (354) and in the subunit Central Rhön (354.1) to the natural area Wasserkuppenrhön (354.10), which extends essentially southeast of the mountain. In the other cardinal directions, the landscape merges into the subunit Western Rhön foreland (353.1), which belongs to the main unit Vorder- und Kuppenrhön (353) .
Protected areas
On the Weiherkuppe are the Weiherkuppe nature reserve near Sieblos ( CDDA no. 555546335; designated 1989; 9.88 hectares ) as well as parts of the Hessian Rhön landscape protection area (CDDA no. 378477; 1967; 410.1096 km² ) and the Hessian Rhön bird sanctuary (VSG no. 5425-401; 360.8013 km²). Parts of the fauna-flora-habitat area Hochrhön (FFH no. 5525-351; 48.0962 km²), on the Weiherberg in the north, and the FFH area Vorderrhön (FFH no. 5325-305; 36.904 km²) are close by ), reaching to the eastern foot. As part of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, the Weiherkuppe core zone is located on the mountain.
Transport, hiking and leisure
A little to the northwest past the Weiherkuppe leads through the hamlets and localities Mittelberg, Grabenhof and Dietges the federal road 458 ; on the road on the mountain pass Grabenhöfchen ( 685 m ), northwest of the neighboring Weiherberg, the hikers' car park Grabenhöfchen . In Dietges, state road 3068 branches off from the B 458, which runs slightly east of the mountain to Abtsroda ; from this the L 3307 branches off somewhat south of the mountain through Sieblos and Tränkhof and then on to Poppenhausen.
Past the mountain to the east, passing the source of the Schlichtwassers, in the area between the Milseburg, Weiherberg, Abtsroda and Wasserkuppe a common section of the European long-distance hiking trails E3 and E6 runs . The southwest slope of the mountain, above Sieblos, is the starting point for paragliders .
