Christmas with the Federal President
Christmas with the Federal President is a gala concert broadcast annually on Christmas Eve on ZDF at a special location.
In 1995, the program was launched on the initiative of Federal President Roman Herzog and his wife Christiane Herzog . During the one-hour broadcast, local orchestras and choirs meet world-famous soloists and music stars of popular music, and actors are also occasionally engaged as speakers. The Christmas story is often read by the host, the Federal President.
Special churches and monasteries in all federal states serve as constantly changing venues. The moderators so far have been: Carolin Reiber (1995–2003), Carmen Nebel (2004–2011), Andrea Ballschuh (2012), Nina Eichinger (2013) and Johannes B. Kerner (since 2014).
