Life

Guse, son of a typesetter , attended from 1928 to 1937, the national and the middle school and learned 1937-1941 in Haldensleben the profession of typographer . In 1941 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service in France and then - in the same year - for military service in the Wehrmacht . As a corporal , he was taken prisoner by the Soviets in January 1945 . Guse first spent this until May 1945 in the Budapest and Focșani camps . He was then transferred to a camp in Borissow , where he worked as a peat cutter until August 1946. Since Guse was a top worker , he was then transferred to a tractor factory in Minsk , where he worked as a brigadier in civil engineering until September 1947, later as a member of the Antifa camp management and youth propagandist.

After his return from captivity in 1947, he worked as a book printer again and then from 1948 to May 1950 as a department head in the Central German printing house in Haldensleben. In December 1947 he joined the SED. From May to December 1950 he was an organizational instructor at the council of the Haldensleben district . He then worked until 1952 as District Administrator of the Eisleben district and from 1952 to June 1953 as First Secretary of the SED district leadership in Haldensleben. In September 1953 the SED delegated him to a one-year course at the party college of the CPSU in Moscow . Then Guse acted as first secretary of the SED district leadership Magdeburg-Stadt until 1959. From November 1959 to July 1960 he took over the management of the department for leading party organs at the Central Committee of the SED. Guse then worked until May 1964 as the second secretary of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg . Subsequently, he was replaced as second secretary because, according to the first secretary, Alois Pisnik , he was performing his duties very inadequately. For Guse the job was found as deputy director for industrial plants in VEB heavy machinery construction "Karl Liebknecht" in Magdeburg.
