Werner Meilick

Werner Meilick (born June 18, 1924 in Zinna , Saxony, † December 4, 2004 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was an SED functionary . He was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district party control commission of the SED.

Life

Meilick, son of a locksmith, attended elementary school in Zinna from 1930 to 1938 and learned the trade of butcher in Raguhn from 1938 to 1941 . Until 1942 worked in this profession in Torgau and Dessau . In October 1942 he was drafted for military service in the Wehrmacht . His last rank in 1945 was corporal . On April 20, 1943, when he was 18, he was accepted into the NSDAP local group in Torgau.

After the end of the war in 1945 he joined the SPD and became a member of the SED in 1946 when the SPD and KPD were forced to unite . In 1946/47 he worked in a stoneware factory in Torgau. From 1946 to 1949 he took part in a training course for vocational school teachers in Halle (Saale) and from 1947 worked as a vocational school teacher or vocational school manager at the Torgau District Council. From 1950 to 1952 he worked as a school councilor in the Torgau district council. In 1952/53 he studied at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg . From 1954 to 1957 he was a vocational school teacher in Bernau or senior consultant and department head at the Frankfurt (Oder) district council . From June 1957 to 1959 he was an instructor, then until September 1960 head of the economics department of the SED district leadership in Frankfurt (Oder). From September 1960 to 1963 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science .

From 1963 to 1971 he was head of the economic policy department of the SED district leadership in Frankfurt (Oder). In 1971/72 he was a personal assistant to the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Frankfurt (Oder), Hans-Joachim Hertwig . From December 1972 to February 1984 he was secretary for economics in the SED district leadership in Frankfurt (Oder) and from February 19, 1984 to November 1989 he was chairman of the SED's district party control commission in Frankfurt (Oder). At times he was also a member of the district assembly and later a member of the PDS . From November 1989 he was retired.
