Werner Specht
Werner Specht (* 1942 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a German painter, draftsman, graphic artist, dialect poet, composer and author.
The versatile artist lives in Goßholz , a district of Lindenberg in the Allgäu. Werner Specht is rooted in the Allgäu , he writes and sings in the Westallgäu dialect and prefers the Allgäu and the neighboring regions for his exhibitions and concerts. However, he is known far beyond that. Werner Specht's songs can be heard on the Bavarian radio program and several television and radio programs, including a single portrait on Bavarian television, have already dedicated themselves to the artist.
Werner Specht is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK).
Life
Werner Specht began his musical career in 1957, i.e. at the age of 15, when he was already able to earn his first income from playing guitar. He founded the band Baccara , with whom he performed on weekends for two decades and which is still impressively remembered by many to this day. During this time he studied painting and graphics at the Academy for the Graphic Arts (now the University of Applied Sciences in Munich ) and at the École de Paris , a free school for painting in Paris.
At the beginning of the eighties Specht had his first success with appearances in folk music after he had found out the dialect as a suitable form of artistic expression. In 1982 he received the Sieben-Schwaben-Preis at a competition of the Augsburger Allgemeine with the title Gschwätz, gschpiele and gschreiben .
Numerous appearances on Bayerischer Rundfunk made him known to a wide public. Various radio broadcasts followed, among other things, television appearances in the evening show and between Spessart and Karwendel of the Bavarian radio and in the springboard of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk.

Werner Specht distinguishes himself as an attentive observer of his surroundings and has the talent to appropriately reflect his different feelings and moods such as melancholy and cheerfulness in his artistic work. His different creative areas influence and complement each other and stimulate each other. In the more short-term creative phases he sometimes deals with the canvas, then again with composition and music-making. He also publishes books and music albums alternately, albeit at longer intervals.
The painter, draftsman and graphic artist
As a painter, Specht works in the fields of acrylic painting , drawing and watercolor . He prefers to find his subjects in his native landscape. Regular solo and collective exhibitions promote his level of awareness. Much of his work is in private and public ownership.
In the annual Westallgäu art exhibition he appeared both as an artist and as a co-organizer.

The songwriter and the music group
Specht is one of the most important representatives of contemporary folk music in the Allgäu. As a songwriter, he has a special position in his home country. As early as 2002, his repertoire comprised more than 200 self-written and composed songs.
To perform his music, the artist, who plays a variety of instruments himself, has come together under the name Werner Specht und Gruppe with the following musicians:
- Werner Specht ( guitar , zither , harmonica , banjo , ukulele , bouzouki )
- Peter Zürn ( dulcimer , guitar, accordion , jaw harp )
- Son Marcus Specht ( vibraphone , glachter , steel drum )
- Heiner Merk ( bass , piano )
Werner Specht and his group give preference to small-scale events, for example in taverns. There are also performances on the big stage, for example as the opening act for Konstantin Wecker or Chris de Burgh or in front of the backdrop of Kloster Banz as part of the songs on a summer evening .
With other musicians who like to experiment, Specht is constantly breaking new ground that challenges him musically; so there was a joint appearance by the songwriter with the Lindenberg town band. The orchestra leader had arranged the sometimes melancholy, sometimes funny and happy songs of Specht, which are usually played with guitar, drums and bass, for the 60 instrumentalists of his brass band in such a way that Specht did not have to sing against the wind instruments and the character of his music was retained .
There were also joint appearances with well-known musicians such as Fredl Fesl , Zither-Manä , Reinhard Mey , Wolfgang Ambros , Georges Moustaki and Klaus Hoffmann .
