Hans Friedrich Heinrich Werner von Below (born September 7, 1784 in Klein Machmin ; † August 22, 1847 in St. Goar ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Franz Jakob von Below (* December 5, 1734 - May 7, 1799) and his wife Dorothea Barbara Christine, born von Puttkamer (* June 19, 1750 - September 2, 1790) from the Versin family. His father was a master at Klein Machmin and a captain . D. , last in the 1st Battalion of the Guard .

Military career

Below visited the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . On March 1, 1798, he was transferred to the Grenadier Guard Battalion of the Prussian Army as a private corporal and was promoted to ensign at the beginning of April 1803 . In the Fourth Coalition War , Below fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and on May 21, 1807 came to the main division of the Regiment of the Guard in Memel .

After the Peace of Tilsit , Below rose on November 12, 1808 with a patent from January 16, 1804 to Second Lieutenant in the Regiment of the Guard on foot . By mid-January 1813, he was promoted to staff captain . During the Wars of Liberation , Below fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Kulm , Leipzig , Brienne and the blockade of Givet . Below received the Iron Cross II. Class for Großgörschen and on June 16, 1813 he was promoted to captain to company commander. On August 11, 1815, he was transferred to the 26th Infantry Regiment as a major and battalion commander . This was followed from November 7, 1824 to March 29, 1832 as commander of the 2nd battalion in the 16th Landwehr Regiment in Iserlohn . In this capacity, Below received the service cross in 1825 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1830 . On March 30, 1832 is first charged him with the leadership of the 28th Infantry Regiment in Cologne and appointed him on February 20, 1833 the commander of this association . On March 30, 1833 Below was promoted to colonel with a patent from April 2, 1833 and on October 17, 1836 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. family

Below married Karoline Antoinette Ritter on June 1, 1837 in Cologne. She was the daughter of the hoboist in the former fusilier battalion "von Bila" Johann Heinrich Ritter and his wife Anna Katharina, née Haas. No children from the marriage are known.
