West Bath is a town in Sagadahoc County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 1,877 inhabitants in 1,116 households on an area of 38.85 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , West Bath has a total area of 38.85 km², of which 30.82 km² is land and 8.03 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
West Bath is in the southwest of Sagadahoc County and borders Cumberland County on Winnegance Bay of the Atlantic Ocean . The area also includes several islands, of which the larger Williams Island and Merritt Island are between Black Cove and Mill Cove. To the south are Campbell Pond and Houghton Pond . The surface of the area is flat without any significant elevations.

history
West Bath was organized as an independent town on February 14, 1844, previously the area belonged to the area of the later City Bath. The area was known as Long Reach and part of the town of Georgetown. The separation from Georgetown took place in 1791.
The area was first settled in 1739. Joseph Berry built several mills in the Mill Cove District, the center at that time. Sawmills and grinding mills, a log house and a tavern were built. More settlers followed and settled in the area. Most of the time, the settlers use the waterways to travel.
