Wilfried Hajek (born January 29, 1956 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria ) is a German CDU local politician . Since July 2006 he has been the building mayor of the city of Heilbronn .

Origin, studies, private matters

At the age of 6 he moved to Leinfelden-Echterdingen with his parents and two of three siblings . Hajek spent his childhood and youth there. After attending elementary and secondary school, he attended the technical high school at the Max Eyth School in Stuttgart from 1974 . After graduating from high school, Hajek completed his 15-month military service in Ulm and Lorsch in 1977 .

In October 1979 Hajek began studying architecture at the University of Stuttgart with a focus on urban planning . He completed this in 1987 as an architect ( diploma ). He then completed his training as a government building trainee at the city of Leinfelden-Echterdingen. In March 1989 , Hajek passed the state examination to become a government architect.

He then worked in the Reutlingen City Planning Office .

Wilfried Hajek is married and has three daughters with his wife. He lives with his family in Reutlingen.

Professional and political career

On March 1, 1998 , Hajek was elected head of the technical department of the city of Nürtingen . Until then, he was still independent, but was confirmed in office in December 2005 with 31 of 41 votes cast.

On March 5, 2006 he was elected building mayor (3rd alderman of the city of Heilbronn) with 30 of 34 votes at the suggestion of the Heilbronn CDU local council faction in the local council. Shortly before that, Wilfried Hajek became a member of the CDU. In April 2014 , Hajek began his second term as head of construction. The municipal council confirmed him in office with 29 of 39 votes cast.

From 1996 to 2008 Hajek was also a lecturer for urban development and spatial planning at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment .

Hajek is chairman of the supervisory board of BürgerEnergiegenossenschaft Heilbronn eG. In addition, he sits on the supervisory board of Stadtsiedlung Heilbronn GmbH and the economic development agency Raum Heilbronn GmbH.

Political priorities

When Hajek took office as building mayor in Heilbronn and was responsible for the areas of building, planning, living and the environment, there were many challenges to be tackled in the city. Hajek particularly focused on a new building culture in the city. In Heilbronn, which was characterized by post-war buildings, Hajek set the course for new urban developments. For example, the city insists on architectural competitions for new buildings. The city has therefore been awarded numerous prizes for innovative and exemplary building for its efforts.

In addition, Hajek is committed to projects for a new mobility culture. The city has joined the RadKULTUR initiative funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg , which promotes a bicycle-friendly infrastructure on the one hand and cultural topics related to cycling on the other.

Memberships

Wilfried Hajek is a longstanding member of the local Italian cycling club Ciclistica Montefiridolfi. He regularly takes part in the annual cycling tour for historic racing bikes " L'Eroica " in Tuscany .
