Wilhelm von Salisch (born November 5, 1913 in Chorinchen , Barnim district ; † March 18, 1945 in Balga , East Prussia ) was a German colonel in the army of the Wehrmacht in World War II .

Like Friedrich Ferdinand zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg , Wilhelm von Salisch enrolled at the Georg-August University of Law to become a corps student. From Michaelis 1933 to Easter 1935 he was active in the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . He joined the 9th Infantry Regiment of the Wehrmacht on October 1, 1935 , joined Infantry Regiment 49 at the end of 1936 and was promoted to lieutenant by early January 1938 .

As platoon leader of the 11th Company, Salisch first took part in the attack on Poland at the beginning of World War II and in 1940 in the western campaign. As a first lieutenant in December 1940 he became company commander of the 10th Company in the 232 Infantry Regiment. From June 1941 he fought in the German-Soviet War . He came to the 49th Jäger Regiment in autumn 1942 as chief of the 7th company. As commander of the III. Battalion he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on April 20, 1943 for his achievements in the Second Ladoga Battle , after he had received the German Cross in Gold on December 26, 1941 . As a major , he led the Jäger Regiment 49 as a substitute in July 1943. In September 1943, he became the commander of the ski battalion in the 1st Ski Jäger Brigade. At the beginning of 1944 he took over the leadership of the Ski-Jäger-Regiment 2 and in May 1944 of the Jäger-Regiment 49. In this capacity he was awarded the Oak Leaves for the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (533rd award) on July 27, 1944. In addition to the Wehrmacht report of September 22, 1944, it was reported that "on the lower Narew the 49th Jägerregiment under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel von Salisch, and the Assault Gun Brigade 259 under the leadership of Major Tolckmitt have done excellently".

Salisch died on March 18, 1945 in the field hospital at Balga Castle from the wounds he had sustained the day before at Gut Warnikam . He was buried in the cemetery of the Coming Balga .
