Wilhelm Hans Ferdinand Georg Maximilian von Specht (born April 13, 1838 in Kassel , † November 27, 1910 in Lichterfelde ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from the old Lower Saxon noble family von Specht and was the son of the electoral Hessian major general and later Prussian lieutenant general Friedrich von Specht (1803–1879) and his first wife Luise Büchling (1805–1841). His younger half-brother was the princely schaumburg-Lippe chamberlain and Prussian major general Walter von Specht (1855-1923).

Military career

Specht attended a grammar school and on June 3, 1856 , coming from the cadet corps , joined the hunter battalion of the Kurhessian army as portepeef ensign . On September 11, 1856, he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and from June 26, 1865 to June 18, 1866, he worked as a military instructor in the cadet corps. During the war against Prussia in the same year, Specht was back with his hunters. With the dissolution of the electorate , he was taken over as Prime Lieutenant in the Prussian Army on October 30, 1866 and assigned to the Jäger Battalion No. 5 . Commanded to inspect the hunters and riflemen from July 1, 1867 to October 26, 1868, Specht was then appointed adjutant . Left in this command, he was transferred to Jäger Battalion No. 11 on January 9, 1869. For a short time in August 1870 he was adjutant at the General Government in the area of ​​the V and VI. Army Corps , only to be aggregated into the Guard Rifle Battalion for the duration of the mobile relationship . During the war against France , he was promoted to captain on September 6 and transferred to the 11th Jäger Battalion as a company commander . Specht took part in the siege of Paris and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for his achievements during the Battle of Le Bourget .

On December 11, 1877, he was transferred to the 3rd Magdeburg Infantry Regiment No. 66 , where he became major on October 23, 1879 . This was followed as a lieutenant colonel from April 16, 1887 as a regular staff officer in the 6th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 52 . With his promotion to colonel , Specht was appointed commander of the fusilier regiment "Prince Heinrich of Prussia" (Brandenburg) No. 35 in Brandenburg an der Havel on August 13, 1889 . From July 28, 1892 to May 4, 1894, he was major general in command of the 17th Infantry Brigade. He was then put up for disposition in approval of his resignation request with a pension .
