Wilhelm Karl Ludwig Friedrich von Tschischwitz (born September 25, 1831 in Brieg , † July 19, 1911 in Hirschberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Wilhelm was the son of a Prussian major and his wife Lina, nee Drewitz. His two brothers Fedor (* 1833) and Ludwig (* 1840) both last served as lieutenant colonel in the Prussian army .

Military career

Tschischwitz attended the high school in Glatz and the cadet houses in Wahlstatt and Berlin . Subsequently, on April 26, 1851, he was transferred as a second lieutenant to the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army. From February to the beginning of November 1855 he was in command as adjutant of the 2nd battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Groß-Strelitz and then acted as a regimental adjutant until the end of July 1861. Tschischwitz rose to captain and company commander in mid-December 1862 during a command to take a special photo of the Neisse fortress . In this capacity he took part in the battle of Königgrätz during the war against Austria in 1866 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords.

As a major and battalion commander, Tschischwitz took part in the enclosure and siege of Paris and the battle at Chevilly in 1870/71 during the war against France . He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class and after the peace treaty was transferred in March 1876 to the 1st Silesian Grenadier Regiment No. 10 as a battalion commander. Shortly afterwards Tschischwitz rose to lieutenant colonel and on March 2, 1880, he was initially commissioned to lead the 4th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 30 . After he had been promoted to colonel on September 18, 1880 , he was appointed regimental commander on March 12, 1881. In the same capacity Tschischwitz was transferred to the 1st Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 46 on May 15, 1883 . Promoted to major general , he became commander of the 10th Infantry Brigade in Frankfurt (Oder) on May 15, 1886 . On August 2, 1888 is presented below Tschischwitz award of the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition .

He was the owner of the Red Eagle Order II. Class with oak leaves and swords on the ring and the Crown Order II. Class with a star.

family

Tschischwitz was married to Josephine Hellwig. Several children were born from the marriage.
