history

Chronicle of the place

Winkel is first mentioned in 1300/1311 as Winkil . The name describes the location of the place on the Kleine Elster and Schwarzen Elster. Winkil has been one of the villages in Wahrenbrück since 1309 . Winkel was a knightly village and did not belong to the Liebenwerda office like other villages in the vicinity. Matz von Naptitz sold Winkel to Georg von Hondorf on Schmerkendorf (near Falkenberg / Elster ) in 1499 . In 1577 the Lords of Honndorf sold the place together with Marxdorf to Friedrich von Heuna zu Altbelgern . In 1589 the upper and lower courts were entitled to Triestewitz through Winkel Hans Runge , but the taxes had to be paid to the Liebenwerda office. Winkel remained in the possession of the (von) Runge family until the hereditary subordination was dissolved. 1672 a Gotthelf Friedrich von Schönberg (1631-1708) is named.

Winkel always had 15 hooves . In 1529 and 1555 a gardener is also mentioned, after 1618 six gardeners. During the Thirty Years War , the farmers and their cattle sought shelter in a boggy area on the Kleine Elster, but the place was badly devastated.

Winkel was parish and started school in Wahrenbrück. In 1809 the community received its first village seal, which shows ax, star and the year in the middle.

In 1823 the manor village Winkel applied for the redemption of its services and taxes to the manor Triestewitz near Torgau . However, only two services were replaced by 1831. For this, the Hüfner had to pay a so-called service fee. From 1841 to 1844 the Hüfner refused any service to the manor. In the process against the manor, however, the peasants were defeated and had to do manual and clamping services again afterwards. In Winkel, however, there were also farmers who were only subject to the parish of Wahrenbrück and were thus exempt from paying taxes to the Triestewitz manor.

Originally, Winkel was in the area of the electoral office of Liebenwerda . In 1815, through the treaties of the Congress of Vienna, the place Winkel was incorporated into the Liebenwerda district. With the administrative reform of 1952 , the place remained in the Bad Liebenwerda district . In the course of the district reform in Brandenburg in 1993, the community was incorporated into the Elbe-Elster district. On September 27, 1998 the place was incorporated into Wahrenbrück .
