The Winnipeg Warriors were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the Western Hockey League based in Winnipeg , Manitoba .

The Winnipeg Warriors were founded for the 1955/56 season as a franchise of the Western Hockey League . In their premiere season, the team first took first place in their own division in the regular season and won the Lester Patrick Cup , the championship title of the WHL , in the playoffs . In the following years, the Warriors could not build on this success. Only in the 1957/58 season they finished first in their own division in the regular season.

From 1980 to 1984 a team of the same name played in the top junior league Western Hockey League .
