The Wittsaal is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Mechtersen in the joint municipality of Bardowick in the Lüneburg district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 128 is 13  hectares in size. It is located northwest of Mechtersen and south of Radbruch .

The area provides a small silting moor pond , which was created by peat extraction , with the bank area and part of the surrounding areas under protection. The core area with the silting pond is characterized by quarry forest . Here grow u. a. Willow bushes and gels , as well as large sedge groves , reed beds and aquatic plant communities can also be found. The area surrounding the core area included in the nature reserve is used for agriculture. The agricultural areas are partially divided by hedges . Except for the performance of official or scientific tasks, it is not permitted to enter the nature reserve.

The area has been a nature reserve since September 16, 1985. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Lüneburg.
