The Hasenburger Bachtal is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon city of Lüneburg and the communities Reppenstedt , Kirchgellersen and Südergellersen in the joint community of Gellersen and the community of Embsen in the joint community of Ilmenau in the district of Lüneburg .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 281 is 530 hectares in size. In the east it borders on the nature reserve " Lüneburg Ilmenau lowlands with zoo ". It is completely part of the FFH area "Ilmenau with tributaries". The area has been a nature reserve since December 13, 2007. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Lüneburg.
The nature reserve is located in the southwest of Lüneburg. It includes several streams with their tributaries and lowlands as well as adjacent valley areas. The streams are the Hasenburger Mühlenbach from its upper course a little below Embsen to the confluence with the Ilmenau in Lüneburg between the Lüneburg district of Bockelsberg and Deutsch Evern , the Südgellerser Bach from the crossing under the district road 10 as a connecting road between Südergellersen and Embsen to to the confluence with the Hasenburger Mühlenbach south of the Südergellersener district Heiligenthal as well as the lower course of the Osterbach (also Barum-Bienenbütteler Mühlenbach) from a road crossing at Böhmsholz to the confluence with the Hasenburger Mühlenbach northeast of Heiligenthal.
In the lower reaches of the Hasenburger Mühlenbach from around Heiligenthal and the Lüneburg district of Oedeme , the Bachtal is part of the Lüneburg Landwehr .
The brook lowlands are characterized by the near-natural, undeveloped running waters with accompanying, often moist to wet meadows and pastures of different intensity of use, as well as fallow areas and quarry and riparian forests . Only a few areas are used as arable land. In the shore areas are reed beds , Hochstaudenfluren , Rieder and swamps to find. Near Heiligenthal, Böhmsholz and in Hasenburger Switzerland in the area of the upper reaches of the Hasenburger Mühlenbach there are near-natural beech and oak forests with a high proportion of old and dead wood . Still waters close to nature can be found here and there. At Heiligenthal and Hasenburg there are mill weirs , which are bypassed by flooding .
The designation of the nature reserve aims to preserve and develop the streams with their lowlands and the adjacent valley areas as a habitat for partly endangered animal and plant species. So here are otters , brook lamprey , bullhead , great crested newt and river mussel home.
The agricultural and forestry use of the corresponding areas is permitted, as is fishing, taking into account the nature conservation purpose. The nature reserve can be entered on designated paths and is used for local recreation .
