Wolfgang Georg Haas (mostly Wolfgang G. Haas ) (born June 9, 1946 in Cologne ) is a German trumpeter , music teacher and publisher .

Life

Wolfgang G. Haas studied at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with Adam Zeyer (1911–1995), Hermann Schroeder and at the musicological institute Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel with Edward H. Tarr . Further teachers were Henry Müller (solo trumpeter in the Gürzenich Orchestra), Walter Holy, Franz Willy Neugebauer , Helmut Schneidewind (all of the WDR radio orchestras). He won the “Jugend musiziert” competition three times. After various orchestral and ensemble activities with the staff music corps of the German Armed Forces , with Musica Negativa, Brass Art, Trumpet and Organ Cologne, with the Edward H. Tarr Brass Ensemble, the Gürzenich Orchestra and the Trio con Voce Colonia, he is mainly active as a soloist . His activity is particularly focused on the natural trumpet / baroque trumpet and piccolo trumpet and historical performance practice as a whole. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts “Santa Isabel de Hungria” in Seville. Since 2011 he has been a founding member of the international ADE trio, with Heinz Kraschl (viola), Salzburg and Prof. Juan Rodríguez Romero (piano, harpsichord), Seville.

Professional activity

Wolfgang G. Haas has made more than 100 recordings with (baroque) trumpets and prongs , and his concert tours have taken him through Europe and Asia.

From 1969 to 2009 Wolfgang G. Haas was a lecturer at the Rheinische Musikschule Köln and led a trumpet class for baroque and modern trumpet, chamber music for wind instruments and the symphonic wind orchestra. He is also a guest lecturer in various international courses and master classes (including Weikersheim (MJD), Mallorca (Spain)). From 1974 to 2003 he was a (founding) member of the Ensemble Trompete und Organ Köln together with the Altenberg (near Cologne) cathedral organist Paul Wißkirchen. During this time there was a lively concert activity with many internationally known colleagues. From 2011 he is a member of the international ADE trio with Heinz Kraschl, viola and Juan Rodríguez Romero , harpsichord / piano.

Since 1985 he has headed the Wolfgang G. Haas - Musikverlag Köln e. K. The focus here is on the work of Stanley Weiner , Gerhard Deutschmann , Franz Möckl , Bernhard Krol , Hans-Ludwig Schilling , Jiří Laburda , Juan Rodríguez Romero , Pavel Josef Vejvanovský , Theodor Leschetizky , Taras Yachshenko , Manfred Gerigk OP as well as first editions of the music of 17./18. Century from European libraries. The publishing house houses works by leading editors, including Edward H. Tarr , Burhard Muth, Paul Wisskirchen. In addition, the musicological book series Cologne Music Contributions are published in German and the Cologne Music Series series in English. Since 1999 the publishing house has been expanded to include the CD product range and the Haas Classic Cologne label. The focus is on series of works with "Pictures of an Organ", "Orchestra Pictures", "Composer Portrais", "Secrets of Music". The Brass Journal plus magazine appears quarterly.
