Wulkow is a district of Neuruppin in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg and is nine kilometers east of the city center. Wulkow is known for horse-related events and the local penal institution (JVA).

On December 6, 1993 Wulkow was incorporated into Neuruppin.

history

Around 1490 Wulkow was part of the Ruppin rule, which was essentially imperial, under the rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin .

Attractions

The place has a stone church from the 16th century with an east gable made of bricks. The pulpit of this church is richly decorated with acanthus leaves and shells.

Single-storey farm workers' houses are adjacent to the former manor with a baroque manor house .

Another special feature is the memorial ensemble on the road to Herzberg , one with the since 1963 more than 100 victims of the death march of prisoners of Sachsenhausen concentration camp is thought that during the Second World War in the steel and rolling mill Hennigsdorf forced labor do had. In 1975, on the 30th anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism , surviving fellow prisoners from Poland designed a plaque in German and Polish to commemorate the fate of two of their comrades.
