Yves Jacques

Yves Jacques (born May 10, 1956 in Québec ) is a Canadian actor who works for film, television and theater.

Life and work

He studied theater at the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe and began his acting career on the stages in Quebec and Montreal . A wider television audience he was in 1981 as a sketch comedian at the annual New Year's show Bye Bye radio station Ici Radio-Canada, Télé known and then in some other film and television roles.

He became internationally known for his role as the gay academic Claude in Denys Arcands The Fall of the American Empire and The Invasion of the Barbarians . His portrayal of Lydie-Anne in the premiere of Michel Marc Bouchard's play Les feluettes , which is considered an important work of modern Canadian theater, brought him great attention on the theater stage .

From 2001 he was in the ensemble of two performances by Robert Lepage on a world tour, namely in The Other Side of the Moon ( La face cachée de la lune) and The Andersen Project ( Le projet Andersen) , in which he played all roles.

He was the singer-songwriter of the song On ne peut pas tous être pauvres (based on the music of Pierre Gagnon). Also in 1981 produced a related music video that is believed to be the first Quebec music video.
