history
Today's local area of Zöbing was already settled in the Neolithic Age. The place Zöbing first appeared in documents in 1074, when an Albero von Zebingen ( Zöbing (noble family) ) was mentioned in a document. Another Zöbinger with Hainricus de Cebingen can be traced back to the beginning of the 12th century . In the middle of the 16th century the place became Protestant and returned to the Catholic faith in 1627.
With the commissioning of the Kamptalbahn , Zöbing developed into a summer retreat with summer retreat villas. After 1945 the place could no longer follow the tradition of the summer resort. Changed travel habits, but also the construction of the Kamptal reservoirs, which led to a sharp drop in temperature in the Kamp, which is lined with numerous bathing establishments, deprived tourism in the Kamptal of its most important foundations.
Through the merger of the market town of Zöbing with the market town of Schönberg am Kamp , the large community of Zöbing-Schönberg was created on January 1, 1971. Just one year later, on January 1, 1972, the district of Zöbing left this large community and joined the municipality of Langenlois as a district .
