history
Numerous archaeological finds prove that Gobelsburg was settled as early as the Neolithic Age . The place was first mentioned in 1079 in the Middle Ages. Numerous changes of landlords took place up to the 18th century. In 1740 the Zwettl monastery acquired the castle and the manor and expanded Gobelsburg into its winery. Gobelsburg Castle is still owned by the Zwettl Monastery today
With the commissioning of the Kamptalbahn , Gobelsburg developed into a small summer retreat with summer retreat villas. After 1945 the place could no longer follow the tradition of the summer resort. Changed travel habits, but also the construction of the Kamptal reservoirs, which led to a sharp drop in temperature in the Kamp, which is lined with numerous bathing establishments, deprived tourism in the Kamptal of its most important foundations.
The previously independent market town of Gobelburg with the districts Gobelsburg and Zeiselberg was incorporated into the town of Langenlois on January 1, 1972 .
Postal code: Several postal codes are used in the municipality of Langenlois . Gobelsburg has the postcode number 3550.
