history
The place was mentioned in documents as early as 1136 as “Werd, que nunc dicitur Hedreitsdorf”. ("Will" indicates that the place was on an island in the middle of the Kampauen.) In a document (1136) the place is called "Haderichsdorff". It takes its name from the Haderichen, the Lords of Nöstach-Schwarzenberg, whose foundation of the monastery Klein-Mariazell in the Vienna Woods was Margrave Leopold III. continued.
The current district of Kammern was donated to Zwettl zu Hadersdorf in 1760.
In 1888/89 a burial ground of a prehistoric settlement was discovered in the course of the construction of the Kamptalbahn . Around 600 vessels and bronze gifts are in the collection of the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
On April 7, 1945, 61 political prisoners were murdered by an SS unit, assisted by Hadersdorf NSDAP leaders, in the Hadersdorf massacre. They were victims of the so-called Krems rabbit hunt , a bloody slaughter initiated by Nazi loyalists after the head of the Stein men's penal institution, Franz Kodré , had released prisoners under the impression that the war was about to end. Two memorial plaques with the names of the victims attached to the cemetery in July 2017 were removed again in December 2017 by a decision of the municipality.
