history

The place is characterized by the castle towering on a steep hill , which was first mentioned in 1230 and is one of the most remarkable castle complexes in the area. On the way up to the castle a small irregular settlement and a burial village in the valley arose. The baroque parish church of Albrechtsberg , a former pilgrimage church, rises within the high ring walls . Albrechtsberg has been an independent parish since around 1380 . Among the owners of Albrechtsberg Castle, the geologist and politician Alexander Tollmann should be highlighted, who owned it until his death in 2007.
