Zanjan ( Persian استان زنجان, Azerbaijani Zəncan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran . The capital is the city of the same name, Zanjan .
geography
Zanjan lies between Tehran in the east, the Caspian region in the north and the two āzarbāydjān provinces of Iran in the west. Important cities are Zanjan , Alvand and Khorramdarreh. Most of the residents are Azerbaijanis .
The province is one of the most important industrial areas in Iran. In addition, the craft is known in Zanjan.
In Ptolemy I's geography , Zanjan’s name was Aganzana . He said that the Sassanid Shah Ardashir I rebuilt the city and named it Shahin . But later the old name, but in the Arabic version, Zangan was used. The area of today's Zanjan Province was called Chamseh , which means five-tribe province.

Attractions
The Öldscheitü mausoleum in Soltanije , which is still largely preserved today, was built between 1302 and 1312, originally intended for Ali ibn Abi Talib (cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad) and his son Hossein . Ultimately, the builder, Mongolian Sultan Öldscheitü Chodabande , himself was buried in it. The Öldscheitü Mausoleum was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005 .
Worth seeing in Zanjan is also the laundry from the Qajar . The building now houses a museum of anthropology .
