The Frozen Zacken ( Polish Zmarzłe Czuby ) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 1902 m in the massif of the Little Gemsenberg ( Mały Kozi Wierch ). The border between the municipalities of Zakopane in the west and Bukowina Tatrzańska , specifically the district of Brzegi , in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Powiat Tatrzański district runs at the top .

Location and surroundings

Below the summit are the five lakes , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Pusta in the east and Dolina Gąsienicowa , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa in the west.

From the summit of the Kleiner Gemsenberg in the south the Frozen Zacken are separated by the Obere Ödkarscharte ( Zmarzła Przełączka Wyżnia ) mountain pass and from the northern summit Ödkarturm ( Zamarła Turnia ) by the Ödkarscharte ( Zmarzła Przełęcz ) mountain pass .

etymology

The Polish name Zmarzłe Czuby can be translated as Frozen Hills .

Flora and fauna

Despite its height, the Frozen Spikes have a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.

The frozen peaks are popular with hikers and climbers. It is located on the Orla Perć high path .
